Who Knocked?

Life moved.
I grew,
And I grew tall.

Neglecting routine reserves,
Thinking they were all mine.

Things that were once free,
Soon came priced.

The inhale of fresh oxygen,
Now, layered with a nosy mask.

The solitude of lush greens,
Patrolled by guarded cops.

The zest of barefoot run,
Lie inside an online yoga room.

The silence of holy shrine,
Deliver home-made prayers.

The crisp of morning newsprint,
Surface a lifeless touchscreen.

The joy of hand-picked dailies,
Shrink-wrap in a market app.

The sizzle of hot popcorn in cinema,
Couch on indoor live streaming.

The thrill of real santoor,
Play on headphones in playlists.

The ghazal of Jagjit,
Ripples nostalgia in whisky.

The fine dining impression,
Sit at home-made dinner tables.

The roar of 3.00 am friends,
Mute with Zoom call Hi’s…

The promise of our well-being,
Commit insurance in covid covers.

The retire of one’s sweat,
Trend live stories on instagram.

The peace of mindful sleep,
Hover with what’s for tomorrow.

The warmth of love,
Is touched with woody silence.

What happened… Who knocked?

It only said,
I give… I retaliate…

Absences with absence.
Affection with affection.
Friendship with friendship.
Loyalty with loyalty.
No more one sided feelings.
Feelings must be mutual.
Respect my being.
And I respect you.

I am Nature.

Isolation – ain’t isolated.

I  S  O  L  A  T  I  O  N
Separated. Deserted. Alone. Single.

Not really.

But,
Connected. Included. Not one. A tribe.

Isolation ain’t isolated,
But a happy quarantine.
A cheerful me time,
On a happy selfie rhyme.

Glued to my lappy,
The worlds’ at my desk.
From SARS to CORONA’s,
All connected in my net.

Friends to my fingers,
Hellos at the wats-app.
Cutting real-time peeps.
Instagram says just be.

Claps on my creative,
Social Samosas cheer me loud.
Let’s now debate,
The Quint voices me out.

Alone; a petty status,
Tinder keeps me hooked.
Date, mate and hate,
Creates many stories.

Live is short,
Lasts for a day.
Meet me buddy,
I am today’s, ‘Its Live’.

So much to seek,
From likes to love.
Country’s world-wide,
To n fro land… on my palm.

Isolation ain’t isolated,
It’s the new me.
A diy hack,
My solo space shack.

ISOLATION
I am connected. I am included. I am the one. I am the tribe.

Lahu ke do rang.

A tribute to all the Indian Jawans who lost their lives in Kashmir for the motherland on 14/02/19 – Jai Hind!

Koun hai tu…
Pesh karo pehchaan.
Josh bhi ek,
Junoon bhi ek,
Phir bhi kyon lahu ke do rang?

Kahan se aaya tu…
Elaan karo mazhab.
Mandir bhi ek,
Masjid bhi ek,
Phir bhi kyon lahu ke do rang?

Koun hai tera messiah…
Kiska tu padhe kalma.
Aankh se barse shola,
Chaati se phate jwaala,
Phir bhi kyon lahu ke do rang?

Kis maksat se tu aaya…
Kaisa baarood tu laaya.
Mastak ka tilak bhi lal,
Rakt ka lep bhi lal,
Phir bhi kyon lahu ke do rang?

Kaisa maahol tu laya…
Kaala sanaata chaaya.
Na dikhi sooni kalai,
Na suni maa ki fariyaad,
Phir bhi kyon lahu ke do rang?

Kya naam hai tera ‘Aatank?’…
Gaon mein phire, tu banke khouf.
Goli se tu khele holi,
Maut se rahe aankh micholi,
Phir bhi kyon lahu ke do rang?

O re ‘Aatank’…
Sun meri bhi chetaavni.
Na jaanoo teri jaat,
Na dikhe tera bhed,
Paar joh kar di tune sarhad,
Laang doon main bhi seema.

Kasam mere tirange ki,
Ghuss kar tere bill mein,
Kar doon chaathi teri chalni.
Yeh watan hai mera,
Main hoon iska sipahi.
Lal hai mera rang,
Lal hi mera lahu hai.

‘Salute to the Indian Army’.
